Sweetmore and Firth are specialists in creating custom orthopaedic shoes and orthotic inserts.
The business opened its doors in December 2022 in the heart of Hayfield Village.
We specialise in developing and making made-to-measure shoes and orthotics for persons who have problems finding shoes that fit properly or who have anomalies or limits in their feet.
After more than six years of employment in the field, I launched my own company in December 2022. I graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester with a BA in footwear design in 2015. Experts in the industry regard DMU as one of the top fashion schools globally, and the fashion course enjoys a stellar reputation. During my time at DMU, I was chosen to participate in the GREAT Festival of Creativity in Istanbul as a UK representative.
After that, I went on to De Montfort University to do my MA in Biomechanics and Bespoke Footwear Design, which was made possible by funding from The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers.
In addition to working in the field, I have given guest lectures at two conferences since completing my master’s degree: the Foot Health Conference in Kettering and the Foot and Ankle Podiatry Conference at the ACC Liverpool.
In order to expand my expertise, I have worked with two shoemakers in Germany, visited Headley Court and Blatchford’s Prosthetic Unit to conduct research, and finished my work experience in the diabetes clinic in Sheffield Hospital.
I am also a member of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers livery in London.
