About Us

I’ve recently launched my new venture, Sweetmore and Firth, manufacturing Bespoke Orthopaedic Footwear. I specialise in designing and making made to measure shoes for those with foot impairments, deformities and disabilities, or anyone who struggles to find footwear that fits properly.

I started my own business in December 2022, having previously worked in the industry for over 6 years. Prior to working in the industry I attained a BA in footwear design from De Montfort University in Leicester. DMU is one of the best fashion schools in the world, and the course itself has a global reputation with industry experts. While studying at DMU I was selected to represent the UK at the GREAT Festival of Creativity in Istanbul.

Following this I continued my education at De Montfort University and completed my MA in Bespoke Footwear Design and Biomechanics, funded by The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers.

Since finishing my masters studies, along with working in the industry I have; been a guest speaker at the Foot and Ankle podiatry conference at the ACC Liverpool and at the Foot Health Conference in Kettering. I have visited Headley Court and Blatchford’s Prosthetic Unit to conduct research, completed work experience at the diabetic clinic in Sheffield hospital and worked with 2 shoemakers in Germany to develop my knowledge. As part of my continuous professional development I am currently undertaking the Pattenmaker course to further advance my expertise in the field .

I am also a member of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers and hold the Freedom of London.
